So, as I’m writing this post – it’s 11:16pm Thursday 14 October 2010.
The night before the first English exam: Area of Study: Belonging! I’d expect most students are probably asleep, so they don’t fall asleep tomorrow in the exam.
Well, good luck to everyone tomorrow!
Just remember that:
- These external HSC exams are only 50%
- You are competing against everyone in NSW
- The better your school does as a whole, the more your marks get scaled – so support each other
- Don’t toss/burn your notes! Heaven forbid you fail Year 12. But more likely, you can pass them onto a friend/sibling in a lower year. Or if you can probably sell them on BoredofStudies.
- Be excited about uni, TAFE, gap year, work, or whatever you have lined up next year.
- Some people describe uni semesters like doing the HSC again, but every 6 months. Ouch.
On a side note, I’ll be tutoring Extension English 1: Module B: Romanticism in 2011 – which is new and shiny? Is it fun?
Thanks alot! Paper one was a killer today, but nothing unexpected (beside the ONE related text)
There was one related text last year as well…
Thanks so much for all the notes you published, it really helped me to prepare for paper 1.
Hi there! I just spoke to my student and she said that Paper One was very straight forward and I’d like to thank you SO MUCH for all the belonging essay questions! it really helped her prepare.
She was very relaxed about the whole thing and not scared at all, now we just have to face modules on monday!
Hi, I did Romanticism this year and its great if you are doing Frankenstein in Advanced. By the way, do you by any chance know what the question was for this in the independent or catholic trials this year? Thanks for your help.
Ok that’s good – I’ve tutored Frankenstein a few times so that’s ok.
Do you mean the Independent and Catholic questions for Ext Eng Romanticism or for Advanced Mod A?
TT
oh sorry..I meant Ext eng. romanticism, thanks!
Sorry, I don’t have the 2010 Ext English trials. Maybe someone posted them up on BoredofStudies? TT
This blog has been great, thanks a lot. I regret not being tutored by you though haha
Thanks TT!
Just wondering if you knew about what raw mark one needs for a band six?
I was hoping for a band six in English but I think I’ve blown it after yesterday. Rushed through the essay with not many techniques.
Cheers,
Hey Tim – sorry, don’t know the answer to that! But keep in mind external HSC is only 50% which is then adjusted according to how well your whole school does. TT
I go to a crap school! What does this mean for me then ?!
ur gonna fail. lol. jks
I just want to say, thank you so much for all these notes you’ve assembled for us 🙂 i know it helped me a lot in Paper and will do so again tomorrow
Romanticism is a great module, rather complex at times but enjoyable nonetheless. And yeah, it does help you understand the context of Frankenstein a lot more, but not excessively.
Thankyou so much for sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate it 🙂
